Reconnect. Reflect. Create.

A Summit for Youth: Music. Science. Leadership. Change.

This August in Trinidad, Sound+Science NYC is hosting a groundbreaking summit designed to inspire and empower young people — especially those who’ve faced adversity — to chart bold new futures through the transformative power of music, science, and leadership.

In partnership with the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, this three-day summit — August 24–26, 2025, at the Trinidad Hilton — invites youth to reconnect with their potential, reflect on who they want to become, and create new opportunities for themselves and their communities. Through music, creative expression, and scientific exploration, participants will gain tools to imagine futures beyond limitation.

What sets this summit apart? It’s led by individuals who’ve walked the path themselves:

  • Dr. Stephon Alexander — physicist, jazz musician, and founder of Sound+Science NYC
  • Dr. Malik Boykin — cognitive scientist and hip-hop artist
  • Stephan Ottley — Trinidad’s record-breaking swimmer and inspirational role model
  • Dr. Andre Toussaint — Trinidadian-American neuroscientist and advocate
  • Dr. Ogubunu — evolutionary biologist and director of the Yale University Initiative on Science and Society

Together, these leaders bring lived experience, creativity, and insight to help young people envision new possibilities and take ownership of their futures.

This summit is made possible through the support of the Simons Foundation, with local coordination by Dr. Shirin Haque, Department of Physics, UWI.
